Why Rewire?
Property rewiring serves multiple purposes. Whether your electrical system needs updating to meet modern standards, you're reconfiguring spaces in a new home, or integrating smart home technology, camera security, and data points, rewiring is essential. From major renovations like kitchen replacements to future-proofing your home, rewiring plays a vital role.
What is involved?
1. Site Visit: First, we'll conduct a thorough site visit to assess your needs and determine the changes required to achieve the ideal system for your home.
2. Preparation: Rewiring is a disruptive job. It's essential that the property/rooms are as empty as possible, as flooring may need to be lifted and walls/ceilings will be chased, causing dust and debris. We recommend you remove as much as possible from the property.
3. First Fix: Following the site visit, we carry out the 'First Fix'. This includes confirming the plan with you and our rewire team, then cutting out and replacing existing wiring, adding new back boxes, and ensuring all cables are flush for plastering.
4. Plastering: After the first fix, plastering is the next step. We can organize this for you, with payment directly to the plasterer.
5. Second Fix: Once the plastering is complete, we move to the 'Second Fix'. This involves installing all fixtures, faceplates, and lighting. We then fit the new consumer unit to restore power to the property. We conduct a final walk-around to ensure everything is correct and you're satisfied with the changes. Testing is carried out and certificates are issued for the install and the fire detection.
6. Finishing Touches: With the second fix completed, the property is then handed back, ready for painters/decorators. This is not something we organize, but we can advise on the next steps.
